Website Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Effective Search Engine Optimisation Strategy

An effective SEO Strategy consists of 8 key components and elements:

1. Benchmark your current SEO performance
2. Look at what your competitors are doing
3. Set your goals and KPIs
4. Audit your site’s existing content
5. Build out topic clusters
6. Improve your On-page SEO
7. Find & fix Technical SEO issues
8. Work on your Off-page SEO

What this means

  1. Benchmarking your current performance is the best way to start setting goals, tracking results, and analysing what’s working and what isn’t.
  2. See what’s already working for others. Build upon that success. But, don’t copy them. Identify opportunities where your competitors fall short (such as, using keywords that they don’t rank for). Optimise for that keyword or phrase, and grab some extra visibility in Google searches.
  3. Setting goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) is one of the most important steps when creating an effective strategy. It helps you evaluate performance and determine whether you need to make adjustments.
  4. Basically, a content audit goes through your content to find opportunities for improvement. Firstly, it helps you identify pages that aren’t performing well. Secondly, it helps you understand why they aren’t. And, thirdly, it gives you a steer on how to fix them.
  5. Topic clusters are groups of interlinked pages about a particular subject. Basically, they help search engines understand the hierarchy of your website and validate your authority around a specific subject. Demonstrating first-hand experience is more important than ever for Google Search rankings. Google upgraded E-A-T with an additional “E”, which stands for “experience.” Accordingly, the acronym is now “E-E-A-T” – for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness.
  6. On-page SEO is the practice of optimising your web content for search engines and users. Getting your on-page right is fundamental for your strategy because it plays a major role in Google’s ranking factors.
  7. Technical SEO is the process of optimising your website to help search engines find, crawl, understand, and index your pages. Basically, the easier you make it for search engines like Google to access and categorise your content, the better your chances of ranking.
  8. Off-page SEO refers to actions taken outside your website that can impact your rankings.

What are the benefits?

When used strategically, search engine optimisation provides businesses with many benefits, including increased web traffic and more qualified leads coming through the sales funnel, meaning you sell more of your products or services.

By understanding and implementing best practices to boost your Search Engine Results Pages (also known as “SERPs” or “SERP”) ranking, you’ll get increased business growth and higher engagement.

As a form of inbound marketing search engine optimisation is one of the most cost-effective ways to grow your online presence. When applied strategically, search engine optimisation allows you to get in front of people who are looking for your product or service, have searched for the specific terms related to your post or listing and end up on your website. As such, these leads are primed and ready to commit to buying.

Get an Audit

Got a website already but visitor numbers are low? Or, visitor numbers are OK but enquiries, leads and sales are low? With this in mind, an SEO Audit of your website identifies problem areas and where improvements can be made.

Although the SEO Audit could be as little as one hour of your time to go through your homepage with me on Zoom, and costs £99, it’s still a cost-effective and time-efficient way to identify the key issues and areas for improvement quickly and easily.

A full Audit is more comprehensive. Specifically, my report covers both On-page SEO and Technical SEO, and includes action points. Consequently, as a result of fixing those action points, your Google Search Ranking will improve and your website traffic will increase. Accordingly, you will potentially get more Leads and Sales too.

It’s also advisable to get an Audit if you are thinking of running a Google Ads PPC Campaign. Make sure that your website is as good as it can be before you start spending money driving traffic to it.

A full SEO Audit costs from £275

A 60-minute Homepage SEO Audit session with me costs £99
