Privacy Policy & Cookies

This Privacy Policy tells you how I collect, store and use your personal data when you browse and use my website or when you provide me with your personal data. Please read this document carefully.

When you access, browse or otherwise use the website you are confirming that you have read, understood, agree and consent to this policy.

Should you disagree with any part of this document, you should not continue to access the website.

Please also see the Cookie Policy.

I respect your right to privacy and promise to do my best to safeguard it. I only collect, store and process personal information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2011, and the Data Protection Act 2018 (UK).

This website does not collect or store personal data.

Cookies are small text files that are stored on a user’s device when they visit a website. They gather information to analyse the website functioning, track user activity, and for advertisements, among other things.

By default, WordPress uses cookies to manage logged-in user sessions and authentication and to remember a user’s name and email address if they fill out a comment form. However, Comments are disabled for this site, and the Site Owner and Administrator will be the only user who is logged-in, for the purpose of editing and site administration.

This site does not use any form of Analytics for visitor tracking, other than any anonymised visitor statistic tracking built into Word Press by default. No visitor tracking plugins are installed or active.

Giles Metcalfe Digital can only see visitor number statistics in the most basic format – i.e. a total number for the given period as a figure.

Until such time as you may decide to tell me who you are, by one of the means detailed in the paragraphs below, it is not possible for me to identify you personally, even through the use of cookies.

Legitimate Interest

Giles Metcalfe Digital will only contact you in cases of legitimate interest, either for the purpose of connecting on LinkedIn or commercial interests where we can reasonably expect you to be interested in our services or in forming a partnership and working together, of for individual interests or broader societal benefits.

E-mail & Other Marketing

Giles Metcalfe Digital does not participate in postal, email, SMS or other available means of direct marketing. Promotion of my marketing services is limited to this website and social media channels, and individual telephone or email conversations. I do not hold names and email addresses in Mailing Lists, on any platform.

Information I may hold

I only hold the information that you choose to provide to me, including but not limited to when you:

  • Buy a service from me through this website, over the phone, email or any other way
  • Visit my Page or Profile on LinkedIn
  • Send me a DM on LinkedIn

If you decide to correspond with me, I may keep a record of your contact in my email application, but I do not use a CRM system (other than my online accounting package, which stores contact details limited to name, business address, email and telephone details for the purpose of invoicing and project management).

Access to Information

You are entitled to ask me what personal data I hold about you. This will be limited to your name, business address, email and telephone details. You also have the right to have me correct any inaccuracies in the information I hold about you.

Payment Card details

I do not take any card details/payments via this website.

Security

At Giles Metcalfe Digital we take your online security very seriously. Any personal information you provide to us is protected by electronic and physical means and held in accordance with data legislation.

Who we are

Our website address is: https://gilesmetcalfedigital.co.uk.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here:

After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

However, Comments are disabled for this site, so this does not apply in this case.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

However, Comments are disabled for this site.

By default, WordPress uses cookies to manage logged-in user sessions and authentication and to remember a user’s name and email address if they fill out a comment form. However, Comments are disabled for this site.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Articles are not a feature of this website.

Who we share your data with

If the Site Owner and Administrator were to request a password reset, the IP address would be included in the reset email. As only the Site Owner and Administrator would ever need to request a password reset, this does not apply. Comments and Users are disabled for this site.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Comments and Users are disabled for this site.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Comments and Users are disabled for this site.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

As the content of this privacy policy may occasionally be altered, you should re-read the policy from time to time. If I alter the privacy policy, such changes will be effective immediately.
